What I have to say......

Okay, so... after watching this anime, I was pretty disappointed. The scenery was beautiful, the initial idea and setup were amazing... but then it kind of....died. Like after the 30 min mark, everything pathetically died.  Let me talk about some of the issues:

Music - I don't  care much about this but A LOT of people said that the music wasn't memorable or placed appropriately and added more "drama" to a normal scene.

Too Much - like a certain studio's films. This is probably THE BIGGEST complaint that I have seen about this movie. The director was very much inspired by a certain studio's film and this film was sort of a homage towards it. Or, maybe it was intended to be, but it certainty came out that way. I didn't mind this too much, though I did forget who actually made this film a few times. I had to double check.

The Characters - they are VERY similar to uhhh.. well see above paragraph. If you watched Kiki or Spirited Away, you kind of can already guess what to expect from your characters. There really isn't any kind of development or anything for anyone except maybe one character, though you know exactly what he's going to do.

No surprises - or at least any that make sense. There isn't any sort of plot twist or interesting anything involved....Except that there could be. We have a whole government agency attacking a little kid and yet we get no questions answered. Like.. what?

Storyline- After the 30 min mark, the story falls in on itself. It could be due to the short time-frame. Maybe it would have been better as a miniseries? Anyway, I was really hoping for something more. It could have been SO GOOD. But..

NOTHING GETS ANSWERED. You have all these questions and really, NOTHING GETS ANSWERED. It doesn't even leave it like "ohh maybe its this or that". It just... falls off and never gets brought up again. Like why are the police doing this? Why wouldn't they come after her the second she returns? Why did that guy die? Why did that animal die? They meant to make it meaningful and wonderful, but just seemed out of no where for any real reason. It seriously just leaves you scratching your head a few times.

BUT if you do get somehow into the story... I mean, it's not the worst thing that's out there. The scenes are pretty and there are a few interesting things ... though they never get fleshed out or seen much again.

Transitions - I thought my stream stopped working a few times because of the clunky transitions. It didn't make me that upset, but there are a bunch of people out there that really hate this movie for it. It cuts to the next scene too quickly or swallows up in a blackness out of no=where. These were just minor annoyances to me.

If you watch this, take it lightly. Maybe gain some inspiration to write or make your own comic. But other than that - I'm wondering why it was rated so high.
